Landscapes from aboard the Matanuska

On Friday morning Flossy and I took the ferry to Ketchikan to pick up the remaining un-sold work from the Birds of a Feather Exhibit at the Main Street Gallery.  The day was warm and beautifully sunny.  The waters of the Inside Passage were flat calm.
Late in the afternoon, shafts of sun through the increasing clouds began to add interesting highlights to the islands we passed.
Late on Saturday afternoon we re-boarded the Alaska State ferry, Matanuska, for the 9 hour ride home.  The wind was up and the seas were indigo and navy blue with whitecaps.
The fading light brought out lovely layering effects.
Sunset was spectacular.

A Little Break

I have been working real hard preparing for the ACRE opportunity and feeling alternately confident and nervous.  Sunday was a good day for a little break.

We are entering the season of screaming green.
Have a break yourself - very refreshing!

ACRE Walls and Floorcloth

This week I completed the walls for my booth at ACRE LasVegas: 4 - 5' wide x 8' tall canvas panels with grommets at top and bottom.
Here are they are, all folded up for packing.  Huzzah, they won't take up that much space in my luggage.
I also painted a 5' x 8' canvas floorcloth.  Flossy had a hard time staying off of it when it was wet.  Below are detail photos.

Sign of Spring

Tourist Season is almost here and Petersburg will turn into a theme park two days a week when the tour boats come in.  This week I designed and painted a new sandwich board sign for luring potential clients up to my studio.  The matt surface in the lower center is chalkboard paint which will enable me to welcome specific ships, post messages, quotes, etc.
